Send us your pictures of the Northern Lights

Aurora Borealis is currently blazing a colourful trail across the skies of the northern UK, thanks to an increase in solar activity.

So far this week people living in Scotland, Northumberland and Yorkshire have been treated to the spectacular display of glowing green lights in the northern sky.

With the most powerful solar storm since 2005 currently blasting around the Earth's atmosphere, it is thought that this amazing spectacle may even be seen as far south as London.

The last time a display on this scale took place was in 2003, when the Northern Lights were seen in France and northern Spain.

Have you managed to see Aurora Borealis this week? We would love to see your photos and share them with other MSN readers. If you have a picture of this stunning light display, simply email it to us at winter2012northernlights@live.co.uk and we will publish your photos.

This video shows some of the spectacular photos already captured this week.
