Amanda Holden has assured fans she is feeling "fabulous" after battling for her life after giving birth and declared: "Our family is complete."

The Britain's Got Talent judge broke her silence after releasing the first photo of new daughter Hollie.

Holden, 40, had been in a critical condition following the birth of her second child a fortnight ago, spending several days in intensive care.

In a message on Twitter, she said: "Thank you all for your wonderful messages. I am feeling fabulous. Hollie is amazing. Finally our family is complete."

Baby Hollie, who was born weighing just over 6lb, is seen being cuddled by her sister, Lexi, while flanked by Holden and her husband, record producer Chris Hughes.

Hollie was born by Caesarean two weeks ago and Holden is thought to have needed a blood transfusion, leaving her in a critical condition for three days. However, the couple have not given any details about the difficulties of the birth.

The actress had recovered enough to be allowed home last week and continues to improve. And the picture shows colour has returned to her cheeks as she cosies up to her family, surrounded by congratulations cards and floral gifts from friends and family.

Holden is aiming to return to her role as a judge on ITV1's Britain's Got Talent by the weekend when the programme heads up to Edinburgh. She is being temporarily replaced at auditions in London by actress Carmen Electra.

Holden and Hughes have already expressed their gratitude to medical staff for their "skill and dedication" to enable them to pull through. A spokeswoman said last week that the couple are "completely besotted with their two girls".

Holden had been in good health throughout the pregnancy, but she has had previous difficulties. She lost a child last year, seven months into a pregnancy, and in 2010 she suffered a miscarriage.
