Warm temperatures hit much of the country, though another cold snap is on the way

Much of the UK has been experiencing some of the warmest weather of the year so far. The south-east of England has seen temperatures reach 20C, while in other areas of the country they have hit the mid-teens, which is well above the average for this time of year. However forecasters expect it will be noticeably cooler by Friday, with the Met Office describing it as a "change day" and predicting highs of up to 12C in the south-east and 10C in Scotland.
