Stamps to celebrate Team GB gold

A series of stamps celebrating Team GB's latest gold medals will be on sale by lunchtime today.

The honour recognises the achievements of heptathlete Jessica Ennis, runner Mo Farah, and rowers Alex Gregory, Pete Reed, Tom James, Andrew Triggs Hodge, Katherine Copeland and Sophie Hosking - and is the first time Royal Mail has issued stamps on a Sunday.

Royal Mail will produce the stamps, celebrating British victories in the women's heptathlon, the men's 10,000 metres, the rowing men's four and women's lightweight double sculls, within 24 hours.

Stamps will also be released commemorating the gold medal for Dani King, Joanna Rowsell and Laura Trott's in the Women's Cycling Team Pursuit final.

Long jump winner Greg Rutherford will also be recognised.

A fleet of 90 Royal Mail vehicles is delivering the stamps to more than 500 post offices by lunchtime today.

Royal Mail will also paint a red post box gold in each of the athletes' home towns of Sheffield, Cheltenham, Chiswick, Wrexham, Stockton-on-Tees, Wimbledon and Hebden in North Yorkshire.

A post box in Isleworth, west London, where Mo Farah trained and went to school, will also be painted gold to celebrate his win.
