Onesie record for theme park crowd

It has been onesie fine day for hundreds of followers of the latest fashion craze as they smashed a Guinness World Record.

A total of 700 people gathered at Drayton Manor Theme Park in Tamworth, Staffordshire, wearing the all-in-one suits, which have famously been worn by the likes of boyband One Direction, to break the record for the largest gathering of people wearing one-piece pyjamas.

A spokeswoman for the Staffordshire theme park said bosses are confident they now hold the new title - which previously stood at 622 people - although the attempt will need to be authenticated by Guinness World Records before being made official.

Visitors as old as 60 turned up to take part in the event as well as participants as young as 12 months.

Onesie wearers spent the rest of their day enjoying the thrills and spills of the theme park.

Colin Bryan, the park's managing director, said: "The atmosphere has been electric and the glorious sunny weather has helped keep spirits up and has no doubt added to the fantastic turnout.

"We pride ourselves on offering a value for money day out for the whole family, so we wanted to create something people of all ages could come and take part in.

"The onesie craze has really taken off lately and the one-piece suits have fast become the item to be seen in, so it seemed an ideal way to get everyone involved and it's absolutely incredible that we've broken the world record."
