Man held after boy killed in crash

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing the death of a 14-year-old boy by dangerous driving.

The teenager was knocked down on the A580 East Lancs Road in Salford at about 8.10pm on Saturday evening.

He was taken to hospital following the collision between Eccles Road and Worsley Road but died of his injuries.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody for questioning."
