The forces opposed to Muammar Gaddafi have seized the former Libyan leader's private plane at Tripoli's international airport. A look inside the jet shows the scale of luxury that Gaddafi lavished on himself and those close to him.

The Airbus A340 plane cost Gaddafi around £73million in 2003. When used as a passenger jet the A340 can carry up to 375 people, but Gaddafi's plane was definitely not set up for that number.

Leather opulence

A look inside Gaddafi's private plane gives us a glimpse of the lavish lifestyle to which he was accustomed. Here a Libyan rebel fighter takes a break in the leather seats of the plane. The Arabic words read as "Be thankful and we give you more".

Conference room
