Gordon Brown became Britain's Prime Minister in June 2007 when he took over from Tony Blair, the Labour Party's longest-serving Prime Minister.
Before Gordon Brown became PM, he was Chancellor of the Exchequer from 1997 to 2007. He is MP for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath.
