The Brick is back! Our blog yesterday picked up on the furore surrounding a female journalist's assertion in the Daily Mail online that she got loads of hassle in life because, like, she was so pretty and everything.
'There are downsides to looking this pretty, Ms Brick magnanimously asserted. 'Other women hate me for no reason other than my lovely looks'.
Unsurprisingly the internet went into something close to meltdown over the article, as 'Samantha Brick' trended for hours on end and the Daily Mail racked up some 1.5 million hits on the one article alone online.
And now she's back in a follow-up article, staggering asserting that the bile she prompted online just proves her original point right.
She describes her tears as the response to the article snowballed out of control yesterday, and ends: 'Yes, I'm a good-looking woman — albeit one that has feelings, too'.
Over 24 hours after the original piece, Samantha Brick is still trending on Twitter - here are some of the (more printable) comments...
''No one is more reviled than a pretty woman' - no Samantha Brick, no one is more reviled than an arrogant person -regardless of gender'
Rachel Winter (@profpieface)
'If I give my name as Samantha Brick to the barista in Starbucks, will they bring me over a free drink for my beauty?'
Mrs Stephen Fry (@MrsStephenFry)
'Samantha Brick must be the most deluded woman in Britain - as I said to my loving husband Stephen and our many wonderful children'
'BREAKING: We have agreed a price of a 1000/1 for Samantha Brick to win Miss World. Bargain, given her beauty #samanthabrickfacts'
And a good one to sum it all up...
Tom Cox (@cox_tom) 'Hope the Mail are saving space tomorrow for Samantha Brick's reaction piece on the reactions to her piece about the reactions to her piece'
