India’s Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run scorer in World Cup history with 1,732 runs to his name.

 

Rahul Dravid boasts the best World Cup average (64.92) having amassed 779 runs from his 18 innings.

 

The highest individual score in a World Cup match was posted by Gary Kirsten of South Africa, who hammered 188 against the United Arab Emirates in 1996.

 

Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan left-arm bowler, has taken the most World Cup wickets with 55 scalps to his name.

Australia’s Glen McGrath boasts the best bowling figures with 7 for 15 against Namibia in 2003.

 

Adam Gilchrist, the Australian wicket-keeper, has taken 33 catches in World Cup matches – more than any other player.

 

The best bowling average, of 17.05, is held by former West Indies bowler Michael Holding, who took a total of 20 wickets in 11 matches for just 341 runs.

 

Australia have won more ICC World Cup matches than any other team. Of the 58 games they have played, they have been victorious in 40.

The highest team score was 398 for 5, posted by Sri Lanka against Kenya in 1996.

 

Zimbabwe have lost more World Cup games than any other team, having been beaten on 31 occasions.

 

India’s Krisnamachari Srikkanth, New Zealand’s Nathan Astle and Pakistan duo Ijaz Ahmed and Inzamam-ul-Haq have failed to trouble the scorers on more occasions than anyone else, with four ducks to their names.

 

Canada hold the record for the lowest team total. They scored just 36 against Sri Lanka in 2003.
