Special report: Cricket World Cup (Image © Rex Features)
Kevin Pietersen has climbed to the top of the one-day international batting rankings. The Hampshire batsman has scored 121 runs in England's three group games at the World Cup, including 56 not out in the seven-wicket victory over Kenya on Saturday.
He overtakes Australia's Mike Hussey and Ricky Ponting in the rankings while Andrew Flintoff is the only other England player in the top 20, but he is only ranked 14th.
Pietersen is the first English batsman to lead the rankings since Marcus Trescothick in 2005. Allan Lamb is the only other England player to achieve the feat. South Africa's Shaun Pollock is top of the latest bowling rankings.

Australia are still favourites even though South Africa have overtaken them at the top of the one-day rankings. The West Indies are a solid team and will benefit from playing on their home grounds. But who will be lifting the trophy on April 28? Could England provide an upset and win the tournament?
